This fund is in memory of Staff Sergeant Joseph D’Augustine, a Combat Veteran who served his country selflessly and honorably in both the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars as a United States Marine. Staff Sergeant D’Augustine was a 2001 Waldwick High School graduate who was killed in action, March 27, 2012, while on his second tour of duty in Afghanistan. Joseph dedicated his life to the service and protection of others. His personal awards included the Bronze Star with Valor, the Purple Heart, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (third award), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, and the NATO-ISAF Medal. We would like to honor him by offering scholarships to two Waldwick High School graduating seniors who exemplify the highest standards of citizenship through strong character and dedication to community service.
This memorial is considered a fund, not simply a scholarship, because our goal, moreover, is to help those who served directly or indirectly with Joe, those still serving in our armed forces, and those who have served our nation in the past. Whether providing financial help to families of the fallen, visiting veteran homes, sending packages overseas, helping those injured with their bills and physical needs, or contributing to other military causes, the SSJDMF will continue to support those in need. For any inquiries please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
